Ian Gallagher begins his fourth season as an assistant coach for the UMW men's lacrosse team, serving as Drew Delaney’s assistant coach since taking over as head coach in 2016-17. Gallagher will continue in his role as the defensive coordinator, goalie coach, and working with the extra-man unit.
Prior to UMW, Gallagher served as an associate head coach and an assistant coach at Plymouth State for two seasons. Before his time at Plymouth State, Gallagher coached at Georgetown Prep, Homegrown Lacrosse Club (MN), the University of St. Thomas, the University of Minnesota, and the Blake School.
Prior to coaching, Gallagher attended Wagner College where he played goalie for four years
Brendan Megan will begin his second season as an assistant coach with the UMW men's lacrosse team.
Megan was previously the head coach for Salem High School in New Hampshire. While there, he guided Salem to a program best record and quarterfinal appearance. Megan was awarded Coach of the Year for New Hampshire Division 1, in addition to the Eagle Tribune Brian O’Reilly Coach of the Year Award.
Prior to coaching, Megan played collegiately for two years at Saint Anselm College before injuries cut his career short. Megan is a native of Hampstead, New Hampshire.
Patrick Finn enters his third season as an assistant coach and second as the offensive coordinator. Under Finn’s tutelage, total goals, goals-per game, and shots-per game have all increased
Finn is a graduate of Boys Latin School in Baltimore, MD, and played his college lacrosse at the University of Virginia. He has coached at all levels of the sport including as an assistant at UVA and Penn State University, and has won high school state titles in Connecticut, Maryland and Virginia. He founded the New Milford Youth Lacrosse League in Connecticut, and the C & A lax club team in Baltimore.
Tyler Houston '16
Tyler Houston, ’16 returns to UMW, beginning his first season as an assistant coach for the UMW men's lacrosse team. As a student-athlete, Houston played defense at UMW for 3 years and was a two-time captain his junior and senior year.
Prior to coaching at UMW, Houston served as the head coach of Fredericksburg Academy for two years and was the head of the lacrosse program, 6th-12th grades, for one year at Sayre School in Lexington, Kentucky. He has also spent the past 4 years as the Defensive Coordinator for the Swiss National Lacrosse Team, coaching them in the 2016 European Championships in Budapest, Hungary as well as the 2018 World Games in Netanya, Israel. Additionally, Houston serves as a coach for FXBG Lacrosse Club based out of Fredericksburg.
